Rock band The Kills from both the U.K. and here in the U.S. have a really cool sound.
Singer-songwriter Alison “VV” Mosshart and guitarist Jamie “Hotel” Hince mix garage rock with elements of blues mixed in with some new wave cool sounds. They are minimalist with a big sound.
The duo met while singer Alison Mosshart was on tour in England with her then-band Discount. She had heard Jamie playing guitar at the place her band was staying at and needed to meet him. The rest is history and their chemistry is what has helped them evolve as a band. They made their debut in 2002 with a self-released EP titled Black Rooster and that caught the attention of critics. In 2003 they released their debut album Keep On Your Mean Side and it quickly shot up the U.K. charts. Since then they have released several albums and have toured extensively.
The duo just released several singles from their forthcoming album, God Games out on October 27th with a tour to follow. Check them out when they come to your city or town. Support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
