I came upon this group’s music while researching indie artists and I love their new song. Meet Motherflowers from Venezuela, the duo consists of Irene López, Gabriel Nóbrega, and Freddy Méndez... Their music is a mix of Latin music with cumbia, reggaeton, pop, hip-hop, and more.
The trio got together in 2018 and their music is infectious and has been dominating the Latin scene with their songs. Irene López was part of the noise-pop group Polyman and now goes under the name Irepelusa. Gabriel Nóbrega and Freddy Méndez who are the producers and beat masters use their professional names of Frank Lucas and Veztalone. They made their debut last year with the album Retrofuturism and I love the single “Doblao.”
They just released their new EP, Boleritos de la Mar which is full of great Latin music with cumbia, reggaeton mixes, and great lyrics. The band says it’s an album for you to dance with your mama on a Sunday. I can’t stop listening to it and the band is now on tour. Check them out when in your city or town and support independent music and musicians worldwide. Happy listening!
