Canadian singer/songwriter Dallas Green has certainly had an eclectic career. The former guitarist for post-hardcore band Alexisonfire began to perform under the moniker City and Colour while still a member of that group. Occupying the literal opposite end of the musical spectrum, City and Colour -- a description of his name: Dallas (city) and Green (colour) -- is a celebration of acoustic genres like folk, Americana and country-tinged rock. His latest single is elegiac “Meant to Be,” was written for a dear friend he lost in 2019, producer and engineer Karl Bareham. A new album is due in 2023 on his own imprint, Still Records.
